Second Lesson: 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8

For our appeal does not spring from deceit or impure motives or trickery, but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the message of the gospel, even so we speak, not to please mortals, but to please God who tests our hearts. As you know and as God is our witness, we never came with words of flattery or with a pretext for greed; nor did we seek praise from mortals, whether from you or from others, though we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them this question: “What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” He said to them, “How is it then that David by the Spirit calls him Lord, saying, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’?
If David thus calls him Lord, how can he be his son?” No one was able to give him an answer, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.

The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

For us and for our salvation

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself, and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.

Spiritual Communion: Act of Reception
During Communion, you are invited to say the following prayer form for receiving Spiritual Communion. Know that the grace of God is made present in your heart, even though the Sacrament is not received with the mouth.

Confirmation & Reception Course
Our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Daniel G.P. Gutiérrez, is scheduled to visit St. Paul’s next year, on April 7. All youth & adults who are interested in being Confirmed—or Received, for those who have already been confirmed in another denomination—are invited to an information session on Sunday, November 12, at 9:15 AM in the Parish Hall. This includes youth who have already been participating in confirmation preparation. This confirmation/reception course will begin in Advent, continue through Epiphany & Lent and conclude in Holy Week, just prior to the Bishop’s visitation. For further details, please contact Fr. Thanksgiving Gift Card Collection
Dear parishioners of St. Paul’s, The Outreach Committee will be collecting supermarket gift cards for families of Doyle Elementary and for the Immigrants Action Group. Denominations of $25 and $50 are greatly appreciated. Stores like ALDI and Walmart as well as local supermarkets would be fine also. Gift cards can be dropped off at the parish office or given to Mary Smith between services. Please submit gift cards by November 19. Christmas in Doylestown: Butter Cookies
Once again, our famous Butter Cookies will be available for Christmas in Doylestown. This year we will be taking pre-orders with some boxes of cookies available for sale at the tour. Make sure you place a pre-order so to make sure you don’t miss out on the delicious cookies. Order Forms can be found can be found in the parish hall by the Christmas in Doylestown bulletin board.
Thanks to your generous donations we now have all the ingredients needed for baking. We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help with baking. Please see sign up forms in the parish hall by the Christmas in Doylestown bulletin board starting October 1st. Baking dates begin October 28th through November 12th - some weekends and some weekdays.

New Pollinator Garden
Please check out the new pollinator garden planted this week along the Pine St. side of the church. Thank Kay Johnson for her sister Barbara’s generous birthday gift to Kay to complete this project! Looking forward to next summer when all the native plants are a-buzzing with pollinators! Thanks Kay!
Community Meal: november 26
The next Community Meal is scheduled for Sunday, November 26. This will be our last Community Meal until April 2024. In addition to St. Paul’s, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel will be participating. Christmas in Doylestown UPDATE: Helping Hands needed
Dear St. Paul’s Parishioners,
It is time to start getting the HELPING HANDS signed up for assisting the LEAD DECORATORS with getting the houses ready for this year’s CHRISTMAS IN DOYLESTOWN HOUSE TOUR. If you have the desire to help our greatest fund raising event of the year please consider being a part of this fun and festive event. We are in need of helpers for inside and outside tasks. Once you have signed up, the LEAD DECORATOR will contact you to make sure their schedule works with yours.
Also, note there are other tasks needed in addition to helping at the homes. Please view the sign up to see what there is to sign up for.

Forward Movement is a ministry of The Episcopal Church dedicated to forming adult Episcopalians in the faith. Forward Day by Day is one of its publications: a devotional booklet with brief meditations on a passage of Scripture appointed for each day. Paper copies for the three-month period of November-January are now available in the entranceway to the Parish Hall.

LITTLE FREE PANTRY
The Little Free Pantry continues to be a huge asset for the community. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated by those suffering from food insecurities in the area.
