First Lesson: Exodus 34:29-35
Moses came down from Mount Sinai. As he came down from the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant in his hand, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, the skin of his face was shining, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses spoke with them. Afterward all the Israelites came near, and he gave them in commandment all that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face; but whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would take the veil off, until he came out; and when he came out, and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, the Israelites would see the face of Moses, that the skin of his face was shining; and Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

Second Lesson: 2 Peter 1:13-21
I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to refresh your memory, since I know that my death will come soon, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.
For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on the holy mountain.
So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah” —not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.

Today: Visit to HAM
Today, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and other members of St. Paul’s are traveling to Philadelphia to join the Church of the Holy Apostles and the Mediator (HAM) for worship. Members of HAM joined us for worship via our Sunday livestream just a few weeks ago. Today’s event is a further opportunity for solidarity between our two church communities.
Funeral for Mary Rose
The funeral for Mary Rose will be held at St. Paul’s this afternoon at 4:00 p.m, with a public committal to follow in the Columbarium Garden. A reception will then be held in the Parish Hall.
Weekday Worship
Mass for the lesser feast of Edith Stein (philosopher, monastic, & martyr, d. 1942), will take place this week on Wednesday, August 9 at noon in the Chapel.

The Altar Guild is looking for someone who can assist with upkeep and repair of wooden items used in our services. Please contact Carol Fox for more information.
Our historic and beautiful stained glass windows need our help. The plexiglass protective coverings have yellowed which obscures the windows from the outside and darkens the windows on the inside. We hope to replace this covering on 12 windows. In addition, some of the windows need partial restoration to make repairs and prevent further deterioration. As such, we are starting a pop-up campaign to raise funds. Please address any questions to Maureen McGraw or George Wiemann.
Community Meal: August 27
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the July 23rd Community Meal such a big success. The next meal is scheduled for Sunday, August 27th. The Community Meal helps those who are food insecure in the community by providing a nutritious and delicious meal. Volunteers are needed to help with the food preparation and serving. We will also need greeters, servers, and volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. Food should be delivered to the church by 12:30 on August 27th. If possible, the food should be delivered warm and ready to serve. Please review the signup here and consider signing up to help with the meal. Thank you in advance for your continued support. Driver needed for the Community Meal
Please consider being a van driver for the monthly community meal. We were fortunate enough to have a driver for the June meal and were able to help some additional people. A permanent driver for St. Paul’s would be very helpful. To qualify, an online course offered by Code Blue (CSSH) must be taken. If you are interested, please contact Mary Lou Parry using the church directory. Thank you for your consideration in this effort.

CARING FOR FRIENDS
Caring for Friends has resumed our meal packing at the church. Our next meeting will be Saturday, August 19 from 9:30-11:30am. We are asking for anyone who would like to cook at home to bring the food to church on the 19th to pack. Please include a list of ingredients for all meals. Casseroles with a protein source, meats like meatloaf, chicken, beef, turkey breasts with a side of rice or potatoes are some other ideas. Donations of canned goods are appreciated, especially fruits and vegetables. Hope you can make it. Please contact Myra Parker, Mary Smith, or George Wiemann with any questions.
Forward Day by Day Devotionals for August-October
Forward Movement is a ministry of The Episcopal Church dedicated to forming adult Episcopalians in the faith. Forward Day by Day is one of its publications: a devotional booklet with brief meditations on a passage of Scripture appointed for each day. Paper copies for the three-month period of August-October are now available in the entranceway to the Parish Hall.

Summer Office Hours
During the summer months, the church office hours will be reduced on Friday afternoons. From June 16 through August 25, the office will close at noon on Fridays. In September, the office will once again resume its normal schedule.

LITTLE FREE PANTRY
The Little Free Pantry continues to be a huge asset for the community. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated by those suffering from food insecurities in the area. The need continues to be great for supplies such as snack bars, small cereal boxes, fruit cups, pudding and Jell-O cups, pretzels, and crackers. Thank you for your help and support. Questions?
