The Liturgy of the Word
First Lesson: Exodus 19:2-8a
The Israelites had journeyed from Rephidim, entered the wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness; Israel camped there in front of the mountain. Then Moses went up to God; the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the Israelites: You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the Israelites.”
So Moses came, summoned the elders of the people, and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him. The people all answered as one: “Everything that the Lord has spoken we will do.”

Second Lesson: Romans 5:1-8
Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.

Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment.

The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself, and, when we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.
On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.
Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.

Spiritual Communion: Act of Reception
During Communion, you are invited to say the following prayer form for receiving Spiritual Communion. Know that the grace of God is made present in your heart, even though the Sacrament is not received with the mouth.

Summer VBS Registration is Open
We are excited for this year’s VBS program! We will be learning all about the Trinity. This year’s program is geared toward children ages 5-13 but we need helpers of all ages. We are looking for youth who want to attend, youth who want to be helpers, adults to help with the activities and adults to help with food. If any of those roles sound interesting to you, please register here or contact Elizabeth Pitts or Maureen McGraw for more information! VBS will be in the Parish Hall June 19-23. We will start with dinner at 530pm and start our activities at 6pm. We will have evenings of fun, songs, games and crafts. We can’t wait to see you there! Weekday Worship
Mass for the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist (transferred) will take place this week on Wednesday, June 21 at noon in the Church.
Community Meal: June 25
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the May 28th Community Meal such a big success. The next meal is scheduled for Sunday, June 25th. The Community Meal helps those who are food insecure in the community by providing a nutritious and delicious meal. Volunteers are needed to help with the food preparation and serving. We will also need greeters, servers, and volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. Food should be delivered to the church by 12:30 on June 25th. If possible, the food should be delivered warm and ready to serve. Please review the signup here and consider signing up to help with the meal. Thank you in advance for your continued support. Please consider being a van driver or attendant for the monthly community meal. To qualify, an online course offered by Code Blue (CSSH) must be taken. From the Social Justice Committee:
In February Bishop Daniel joined with two other Pennsylvania Bishops to again speak out against the growing tide of gun violence in our state and nation. You can review their message by following this link. In solidarity with our Bishop and fellow siblings in Christ, we are invited by Episcopal Community Services to attend and assist with the installation of a T-Shirt Memorial. The memorial is provided by Heeding God's Call and honors those lives taken by Gun Violence. You can read more by following this link.
The installation and interfaith prayer service will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 23. It will take place at St. Barnabas Community Center, located at 6006 W. Girard Avenue, Philadelphia. Feel free to discuss possible carpooling with George Wiemann, Jim Massey, and/or Wendy Brumbaugh.

175th Timeline Exhibition
The timeline exhibition that was set up in the Parish Hall during the 175th celebration now has a digital life! You can still see these exhibition panels in the June issue of Passages. A photo of each individual panel was taken at close enough range to enlarge the photo on your phone or computer screen and read the contents. You will be able to review each panel at your leisure and even save it on your device as an ongoing reference if you wish. And don’t forget, an even more extensive history is available in the book “A History of St Paul’s Church,” available in the church office. The price of the book is $30.

Summer Office Hours
During the summer months, the church office hours will be reduced on Friday afternoons. From June 16 through August 25, the office will close at noon on Fridays. In September, the office will once again resume its normal schedule.
Women’s Group
The St. Paul’s Women’s Group had a wonderful night of fellowship and trivia games last weekend! We hope you will be able to join us for our next event in July – Walking or Riding around Lake Galena. We are planning this for earlier in the day to avoid the heat. Be on the lookout for an evite with a poll about the best dates and times. We would plan to meet at the parking area near the Peace Valley Lavender Farm (Pavilion 5) and walk or bike around the lake until the groups get tired. We are so blessed to have several parishioners step up to be shepherds of the various tasks required to make our lovely House Tour happen for 2023!!! Thank you all so much!!!!

June Psculkowski has taken on the butter cookie baking, so do not panic our famous cookies will once again be available this year!!!
Wendy Brumbaugh will once again handle the PR for the event, so we are sure to have a great turn out.

The Little Free Pantry continues to be a huge asset for the community. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated by those suffering from food insecurities in the area.
