Announcements

Summer Class: Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation
Our summer class preparing candidates to receive the rites of Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation continues today at 9:00am in the Education Wing Conference Room. This week’s topic: “Creed—what do we mean when we say, ‘We believe...’?” Candidates will have the opportunity to receive these sacramental rites when Bishop Gutiérrez visits our church on August 19.

Leaflets, Inserts, & Pew Cards
You may have noticed our updated (slimmer) service leaflet. Scripture readings are in the insert of your bulletin; service music is now found in sleeved “pew cards,” (several in each pew), or in the ‘S’ section of the Hymnal. The liturgy is found in The Book of Common Prayer (BCP).

The Saint Paul’s Market is Open
Gardeners:  If you are growing more than you can use, please bring in your extras!
Buyers:  Please make a generous donation for what you take.
The offerings may be small as our gardens get going, but be sure to check each week to see what is available. Proceeds benefit the ‘Little Red House’ Collection, used to buy food for the residents of the Doylestown Homeless Shelter.

SAYES: Our Sister Parish in Guatemala
Until the beginning of September, there will be a large jar in the narthex for donations that will also be included in the final amount that will be sent to St. Mary’s. The month of September will be dedicated, again, to a fundraising campaign to coincide with the start of the school year. If you write a check, please make the check out to St. Paul’s with SAYES in the memo line. Thank you for your generosity and how you helped to brighten a child’s future. The Outreach Committee, Mary Lou Parry, Chair

Adjusted Office Hours: July 16 – 20
Please note: the parish office hours will be adjusted from Monday, July 16 through Friday, July 20 while Angie is on vacation. The office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

General Convention: July 5–13
The 79th General Convention of The Episcopal Church is taking place from July 5–13 in Austin, Texas. This triennial convention is a gathering of bishops, priests, deacons, and laity from across the Episcopal Church—which, besides the U.S., includes churches in Europe, Caribbean dioceses (Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico), and other Latin American dioceses (Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela). The General Convention sets the Church’s budget, makes decisions on liturgy and worship, and passes resolutions on a host of social and pastoral issues. Your prayers are asked for the bishops and deputies who gather to discern the direction of our church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The prayer on page 818 of The Book of Common Prayer, adapted for this Convention, is especially suitable:

Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel in the 79th General Convention for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Flower Memorials
If you have a scheduled flower memorial and have not sent in payment, please submit it at your earliest convenience. You can contact Lisa Farina or the church office with any questions regarding memorials. Lisa Farina, Head of the Flower Guild

The Toddler Room at St. Paul’s
St. Paul’s offers nursery care for our littlest ones during the 10:00 service on Sundays in our Toddler Room, located on the stage of Paxson Hall. Parents of children ages 6 months to 3 years can drop them off starting at 9:30am. This room is very kid-friendly, with toys, books, and even a crib for those needing a nap. Feel free to make use of it as needed, whether for the whole service or until Communion. Children of all ages are always welcome in church. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me…”
