Announcements

We Reached Our 2018 Stewardship Goal!
The Stewardship Committee is thrilled to announce that we have achieved our goal for 2018 by surpassing $250,000 in pledged giving to St. Paul’s! See the back page of this bulletin for our latest tally. This achievement enables our Vestry to be well-prepared in determining the church budget for 2018. Your pledges have made this possible. Thank you for your support of St. Paul’s through the gift of your tithes and offerings!

Advent Offering: the Food Larder
This year, our Advent Offering—which goes to support outreach in our community—is designated for the Food Larder in New Britain, which provides food for needy individuals and families throughout the Central Bucks area. This offering from St. Paul’s is our corporate response to Jesus’ call to feed the hungry: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…” (Matt. 25:35). You can make your offering by placing it in the Advent envelopes available in the pews. Thank you for your generosity and participation in this essential Christian mission to our local community.

The Church Office will be closed from December 25th through January 1st.
The office will re-open on Tuesday, January 2nd.

New at St. Paul’s: a Toddler Room
St. Paul’s now offers nursery care for our littlest ones during the 10:00 service on Sundays in our brand-new Toddler Room, located right on the stage of Paxson Hall. Parents of children ages 6 months to 3 years can feel free to drop them off starting at 9:30am. Our Toddler Room is very kid-friendly, with toys, books, and even a crib for those needing a nap. Parents should feel free to make use of it as needed, whether for the whole service or until Communion. Children of all ages are always welcome in church—and so our Toddler Room is simply an option, not a requirement. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me…”

Hey, children! Can you find the Magi?
Did you notice the empty creche in front of the altar in church? In these weeks before Christmas, we are in a season of waiting for wonderful things—and we are waiting for Jesus to be born! The Magi (or Wise Men) were also waiting, and traveled far to find the infant Jesus. They are slowly making their way closer to the creche by the Altar. Can you spot them? Keep a close lookout—they keep on moving!

A note about the Trisagion
You may have noticed a different song of praise at the start of mass: the Trisagion, rather than the more familiar Gloria or Kyrie. Trisagion (pronounced tree-SAY-jee-on) is Greek for “thrice holy,” and it is an ancient hymn that originated in the Eastern churches. It has a long history in the Prayer Book (Thomas Cranmer included a version of it in the 1549 Book), and it is one of the three options for use in the entrance rite at mass. The Gloria is used during Christmas and Easter and on most Sundays of the year; the Kyrie is used during Lent; and the Trisagion is especially suitable for use during Advent. For more information, see p. 406 of The Book of Common Prayer.
