The Prayer Shawl Ministry has begun their new season.  We had a great meeting in September.  We are switching to the 3rd Saturday of the month which is more convenient for everyone.

Please mark your calendar for Saturday, October 21st at 11am in the Library.  As a reminder, whether you make the meeting or not, please continue on any projects you are working on.

Completed projects can be dropped off at the church, put in the PSM Closet or contact Marie Ciampa or Jackie Grande with any questions.

We have begun a winter hat project for elementary age children.  Knitted or crocheted, whichever you can do.

Anyone in the parish who would like to make a hat for our Hat Project for Central Bucks Elementary Schools, please feel free to drop at the church office or at the Back of the Church on Sundays.

The schools like to keep items available for children who are without during the winter and colder months.  Sizes are for 1st to 6th grade.  Please label for the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

New at St. Paul’s: a Toddler Room!

St. Paul’s now offers nursery care for our littlest ones during the 10:00 service on Sundays in our brand new Toddler Room, located right on the stage of Paxson Hall.

Parents of children ages 6 months to 3 years can feel free to drop them off starting at 9:30am. Our Toddler Room is very kid-friendly, with toys, books, and even a crib for those needing a nap.

Parents should feel free to make use of it as needed, whether for the whole service or until Communion. Children of all ages are always welcome in church—and so our Toddler Room is simply an option, not a requirement. As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me…”

Faithful Stewards: A Theology of Christian Stewardship & Giving

A Rector’s Forum presentation by Fr. Daniel Moore

THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, from 9:15-9:45 in Paxson Hall—childcare offered

I’d like to invite you to a Rector’s Forum presentation that I will be giving between the two services this Sunday, October 22, starting at 9:15am. The topic is “Faithful Stewards: A Theology of Christian Stewardship & Giving.”

The goal of this talk is to take a very large step back, right at the beginning of our stewardship season, and consider what Christian stewardship is in the first place. In the span of about 30 minutes, we’ll explore these and other questions:

  • What is a “steward”? What do we mean by the word “stewardship”?

  • Is stewardship just about giving money to the church, or is there something more?

  • What does money have to do with faith? How is the giving of money a spiritual practice? Does God really care about what we do with our money?

  • What does the Bible have to say about stewardship? How does it guide us in how we are to offer our time, talent, and treasure?

  • What is the Episcopal Church’s teaching on stewardship? What does the church believe about the biblical practice of the tithe?

If you have ever asked yourself these or similar questions, or if are simply interested in delving more deeply into the Why? of Christian stewardship, I invite you to come and bring your questions (and I will leave some time at the end for Q&A).

And for parents of infants and young children: feel free to bring them with you—but for those who wish to come without them, childcare is offered! Come to Paxson Hall just before 9:15, and there will be volunteers on hand to care for them during the 30-minute presentation.

October 22nd is “Name Tag” Sunday

Please pick up a name tag on your way in to church. We will continue Name Tag Sunday for the next few weeks to welcome Father Daniel and to help him get to know us better.

Christmas in Doylestown News:

  • Work on our 24th House Tour is underway!
  • Butter Cookie Baking is in progress, but we need more help to get our cookies made.  Please consider joining us in the kitchen.  We work an assembly line to make the cookies, so you don’t have to be a ‘baker’ to contribute.
  • The best way to volunteer is with Sign Up Genius (SUG) which will show up in your Inbox.
  • If you don’t have email, please call Kay Johnson at 215-260-1270 to volunteer.
  • The Sign Up for Raffle Donations has just been sent out.
  • The bulletin board in the parish hall has pictures of this year’s houses.

Thanksgiving Food Collection

This year we will once again be collecting food for families in need from Doyle Elementary School. There will be bins placed in the closet area of Paxson Hall.

Gift cards to local supermarkets are needed as well. Please bring your donations IN by Sunday, November 19. Thanks everyone for your support in this outreach project.

The Outreach Committee is organizing a food packing event with a Christian non-profit organization called Feed My Starving Children.

This organization targets children who are in the most severe circumstances, those suffering from severe malnutrition and threatened with death and starvation.

Meals are hand-packed with rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world.

The food packing will be held at Delaware Valley University.  If you are interested in helping, and we certainly hope you would consider it, you can sign up for either;

Sat. 10-28  2-4PM

Sun. 10-29  1-3 PM

This is a great family event, and children will enjoy participating.
