Faithful Stewards: A Theology of Christian Stewardship & Giving
A Rector’s Forum presentation by Fr. Daniel Moore
Sunday, October 22, from 9:15-9:45 in Paxson Hall—childcare offered
I’d like to invite you to a Rector’s Forum presentation that I will be giving between the two services on Sunday, Oct. 22, starting at 9:15am. The topic is “Faithful Stewards: A Theology of Christian Stewardship & Giving.”
The goal of this talk is to take a very large step back, right at the beginning of our stewardship season, and consider what Christian stewardship is in the first place. In the span of about 30 minutes, we’ll explore these and other questions:
- What is a “steward”? What do we mean by the word “stewardship”?
- Is stewardship just about giving money to the church, or is there something more?
- What does money have to do with faith? How is the giving of money a spiritual practice? Does God really care about what we do with our money?
- What does the Bible have to say about stewardship? How does it guide us in how we are to offer our time, talent, and treasure?
- What is the Episcopal Church’s teaching on stewardship? What does the church believe about the biblical practice of the tithe?
If you have ever asked yourself these or similar questions, or if are simply interested in delving more deeply into the Why? of Christian stewardship, I invite you to come and bring your questions (and I will leave some time at the end for Q&A).
And for parents of infants and young children: feel free to bring them with you—but for those who wish to come without them, childcare is offered! Come to Paxson Hall just before 9:15, and there will be volunteers on hand to care for them during the 30-minute presentation.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry has begun their new season. We had a great meeting in September. We are switching to the 3rd Saturday of the month which is more convenient for everyone.
Please mark your calendar for Saturday, October 21st at 11am in the Library. As a reminder, whether you make the meeting or not, please continue on any projects you are working on.
Completed projects can be dropped off at the church, put in the PSM Closet or contact Marie Ciampa or Jackie Grande with any questions.
We have begun a winter hat project for elementary age children. Knitted or crocheted, whichever you can do.
Anyone in the parish who would like to make a hat for our Hat Project for Central Bucks Elementary Schools, please feel free to drop at the church office or at the Back of the Church on Sundays.
The schools like to keep items available for children who are without during the winter and colder months. Sizes are for 1st to 6th grade. Please label for the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
October 22 at 10:00
Please come out to support our youth as they take a prominent role in worship on this week. Please note that no Sunday School classes will be held on Youth Service weeks.

The Outreach Committee is organizing a food packing event with a Christian non-profit organization called Feed My Starving Children.
This organization targets children who are in the most severe circumstances, those suffering from severe malnutrition and threatened with death and starvation.
Meals are hand-packed with rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world.
The food packing will be held at Delaware Valley University. If you are interested in helping, and we certainly hope you would consider it, you can sign up for either;
Sat. 10-28 2-4PM
Sun. 10-29 1-3 PM
This is a great family event, and children will enjoy participating.
